At Leones Field, the Caracas faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Tim Lincecum(1-0) finally bested his Chainsaw counterpart, Odalis
Perez(0-1), by the score of 1 to 0.
Caracas scored what proved to be the only run of the contest in the 6th
inning. Chainsaw made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push
the needed runs across.
Lincecum got help from Billy Wagner who earned his 2nd save. Perez absorbed
the loss. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 5
walks.
Alan Dyche was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
